Lifeguard AND/OR Swimming Instructor – Part Time

The City of Daly City Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking part time employees to join our Aquatics team.

Established in 1934, the Daly City Parks and Recreation Department serves Daly City, portions of San

Francisco, Colma, Brisbane, South San Francisco and Pacifica. Today, the Department offers over 500

classes, sponsors adult, teen, and youth athletic leagues, aquatic programs, gymnastics, youth and teen services as well as a comprehensive senior adult program, park maintenance, hall rentals, special events and more. The Department employs over 200 youth as lifeguards, recreational staff, park aides and as camp counselors on a continuous basis.

Job Summary:

Educate patrons in water safety

-

Provide patrons public services in a safe environment

-

Instruct ARC Learn‐to‐Swim lessons

-

Perform lifeguard secondary duties

-

Promote Aquatic and DCPR programs

-

Assisting Senior Guard, Aquatics Assistant, and immediate Supervisor

-

Attend mandatory in‐service trainings and staff meetings

-

Submit forms and reports on time

-

A role model to the community

-

Job Requirements:

Excellent verbal and visual communication skills

Highly motivated, flexible, and creative

Preferable Requirements:

ARC Lifeguard Certification including First Aid, CPR, and AED (REQUIRED FOR LIFEGUARDS)

ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification

-

ARC First Responder

-

Experience in the water (Swimming capabilities and knowledge is a requirement)‐8239 (Office)

Hours: Based on our schedule, staff, and availability.

Compensation: Based on experience and certification ($9.28+)
